The summer of 2007 was a busy one for my family. My son had just finished his first year of school and it had not been an easy one. The two of us escaped to Alberta for a few weeks of rest and relaxation. Around the end of July my son left to spend a few weeks with his father and I decided I was going to use that time to do something I had wanted to try since picking up my first camera. . . travel the Icefield Parkway between Jasper and Banff.
What an experience. I took 4 days and spent it in nature, exploring and taking pictures. I still remember that summer vividly. I’m hoping to do a similar trip this summer but we’ll see how things work out.
This picture Purple Alpine Flowers was taken towards the end of my second day of travels. The sun was getting lower in the sky and I had pulled my car over and parked in one of the rest stops along the way. I loved how blue the sky looked and loved the contrast between the blue of the sky and the dark rock of the mountain. I tried capturing a few shots but felt there was something missing. I decided to explore for a bit and came across these beautiful purple flowers. I composed the shot including the flowers and was pleased with the outcome.
